Center opened its first Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA)
in Sparta, IL in 1991. This home was established for adults with a
diagnosis of severe mental illness, providing 24 hour staff coverage
for the individuals who reside in the home. This has continued to
the present time. In 1997 a second home was opened in Chester, IL
for developmentally disabled adults. These homes provide supervised
supportive services which promote residential stability and assist
with an array of services to enhance living and to maintain and increase
an individuals overall level of functioning.
In 2002 a third home
was opened. This home is located in Sparta and provides a 24 hour supervised
residential site for adults with a diagnosis of severe mental illness. The
expected stay at this site is 24 - 48months as the individuals prepare to
transition to independent living.
Communities in the service area have benefited economically through increased
employment and local spending. More importantly the individuals residing
in these homes are remaining independent and are enjoying an enhanced quality
of life.
